A sobering update on the I-35 caps

Costs are up. No private donors yet.

A sobering update on the I-35 caps
I-35 is a policy failure.

City staff delivered some pretty bummer news to City Council yesterday about the I-35 Cap & Stitch plan. It's gotten even more expensive and no other public or private entity has stepped forward to help share the costs.

Nevertheless, it doesn't look like skeptics of the project will convince their colleagues to reconsider the $104 million they voted to commit to the project last year.

Thanks to this week's sponsor:

Adam Loewy is one of the top injury lawyers in Austin and very active in Texas politics. While he often disagrees with Jack Craver’s opinions, he’s proud to support independent media.

To refresh your memory, the plan Council endorsed last May is to build a big cap between Cesar Chavez & 7th St, another cap at 11th & 12th Streets, and two "stitches" (wide crossings) between 41st St and the Red Line.
