Podcast: What now for AI? And Austin?
An interesting convo about Austin and AI with a Gen Z tech worker.
This week I talked with Alexander Pasch, a young APN reader with whom I had a very fun conversation about politics & ethics at Radio Coffee a couple years ago. I figured he'd have some interesting things to say about the allegedly wonderful ways that artificial intelligence is poised to transform our lives. The Zilker native is now several years into a career in the tech industry after graduating from UT with neuroscience and philosophy degrees.
We talked about the following:
- What jobs are getting replaced or will get replaced by AI?
- The more I've learned about AI, the less impressed I've become. Alexander sees things differently.
- What is the political atmosphere of Austin's tech scene?
- Why do people pay so much more attention to national politics than local politics? And why you'll be much happier if you do the opposite.
- Can Austin's many shitty "stroads" ever become beautiful streets?
