The ICE battle comes to Austin

As masked federal agents rampage with impunity through American cities, Austinites are naturally wondering just how much their local government and police department will submit to the Trump regime's thuggery.

The answer to that question remains unclear.

The question has been raised by an incident on Jan. 5, when APD officers reportedly responded to an early-morning disturbance call and ended up notifying ICE of a woman at the scene for whom the immigration agency had an administrative warrant. ICE came and detained both the woman, who has Honduran citizenship, and her 5-year-old daughter, who is a U.S. citizen. Univision reports that the mother and daughter have been separated and family members have been desperately trying to locate them.
