A big bet on Dog's Head
Who is the mysterious Fortune 100 company coming to town?
City Council approved the annexation of Dog's Head last night. As was repeatedly emphasized by the mayor and city staff, the terms of the development are not entirely set yet. Council will have to vote in July on setting up the Tax Incremental Reinvestment Zone and in the fall there will be a vote on a regulating plan, described by some as a "mini-code," governing land use.
Although there still isn't a detailed public vision presented for the mix of uses, project developer Endeavor revealed that a "small portion" of the site is intended to host a manufacturing facility for an unidentified Fortune 100 company.
Lobbyist Richard Suttle said that a nondisclosure agreement prevented him from saying anything more about the future tenant, but that it would not be a data center or military manufacturer.
"It's a use that I think you'd be OK with," he said. "That I think you'd like."
