West Campus, which over the past 20 years has transformed into a bonafide oasis of urbanism, is poised to get even denser.

On Thursday City Council unanimously approved a resolution that asks city staff to consider expanding the boundaries of the University Neighborhood Overlay as well as to increase height limits in certain parts of the district.

UNO is a density bonus program that covers much of the West Campus neighborhood. Unlike other density bonuses, it was calibrated in such a way that virtually any developer who builds in the area chooses to participate. Developments must set aside 20% of the units affordable for those from low-income families.
