A new site for Sunrise?
And the city's new "brand" ...

The city Homeless Strategy Office announced this morning that it's identified a "potential site for a new housing navigation center."
Translation: it has found a place for the Sunrise Navigation Center to move. Sunrise, affiliated with the Sunrise Church, provides critical services for homeless people but is resented by many nearby residents, who accuse it of drawing disorder and crime to the neighborhood. Council Member Ryan Alter has been under tremendous pressure from constituents to get it moved.
One of the reasons Sunrise generates so much activity is that there is no other facility in the city that offers so many critical services: food, showers, IDs, benefit enrollment, medication storage, etc.
The proposed new location is 2401 S. I-35 Frontage Road, which until recently was a motorcycle dealership and is now, according to the city, occupied by a "gaming lounge," which I suspect (but cannot confirm) refers to one of those sketchy slots parlors that have been popping up around town.
