It *looks* like Ellis has the signatures
Was the petition effort a pro or a con for her campaign?
This is probably the last newsletter of the week. Sorry! One mini-vacation right after another, but I challenge you to find a more prolific City Hall chronicler!
Well, it looks like Paige Ellis is probably going to be able to run for a third term. Yesterday she submitted 3,409 signatures to get on the ballot, 365 more than needed.
To run for more than two terms, you need signatures from 5% of the registered voters in your district. According to the city, in District 8 the magic number is 3,044.

As I explained in the past, gathering 3,400 signatures from one Council district is no small feat. She had to pay canvassers (I don't know how many) $23/hr. In the last couple days the campaign upped the pay to $33/hr and had canvassers out knocking doors until 3 pm on Monday, two hours before the deadline.
