The tax campaign begins
But the mayor can't participate?

The campaign for Proposition Q, the Tax Rate Election in November, kicks off Friday at 9 a.m., according to an advisory sent out by Joe Cascino, a political consultant who managed Mayor Kirk Watson's reelection campaign.
The press conference will feature yet-to-be-named "elected, community, union, and nonprofit leaders" at the Laurel Creek Apartments, an affordable housing complex in North Austin that serves people exiting homelessness.
They're calling themselves the "Love Austin Campaign" and hope that leveraging the iconic "I love you so much" mural on S. Congress will inspire generosity from taxpayers:

"Proposition Q will be an opportunity for Austinites to fight back against the Trump Administration’s cuts to Austin, get more people off the streets, and improve quality of life with better funding for public safety and parks," the statement reads.
